Getting Started

What Do I Need to Bring?

Just yourself!

You should wear comfortable workout clothes but forget the shoes as we do the class barefoot to feel full contact with the floor for the balancing and postural work. In colder weather you may like to bring something warm to wear for the relaxation and meditation tracks.

Some clubs may ask you to bring a yoga mat and you may prefer to do so anyway – however, this is not essential.

What are the benefits of BODYFLOW™ ?

BODYFLOW™ will help to keep you healthy because it integrates and balances all the body systems. It keeps the body supple, stretches the spine, and strengthens the muscles and massages vital organs.

BODYFLOW™ is a natural form of stress release and an excellent form of preventative medicine bringing the body, mind and emotions into harmony.

Regular practice will lead to heightened physical co-ordination and balance between the left and right, front and back, top and bottom sides of the body. Often one side of the body is more flexible. We experience injury, pain and discomfort when the body is asymmetrical. BODYFLOW™ helps to restore symmetry, providing strength and flexibility in a balanced way. Poise and concentration also improve.

What parts of the body are worked on?

SKELETAL - the spine is the body's foundation. The program will allow the spine to move in all directions therefore promoting strength and flexibility by correcting alignment, freeing joints and releasing pressure from the inter-violent stretch. This stimulates circulation, prevents lactic acid build-up and corrects poor posture. Pain and tension leave the body.

MUSCULAR - tense muscles are usually short and tight. Yoga postures help to relax and lengthen all muscles with a slow, non-violent stretch. This stimulates circulation, prevents lactic acid build-up and corrects poor posture.

NERVOUS - balances the nervous system, reducing symptoms of stress and inducing a feeling of wellbeing.

ENDOCRINE (GLANDS) - hormonal production is regulated which cleanses the glands and helps with regulation of the metabolism.

RESPIRATORY/CARDIOVASCULAR - the heart is strengthened and massaged and lung capacity increases.

LYMPHATIC/IMMUNE SYSTEM - balances and strengthens the immune cells increasing the body's ability to fight infection. The lymph glands are stimulated helping the drainage of body tissues.

How can I fit BODYFLOW™ into my regular exercise program?

BODYFLOW™ complements the other Les Mills programs as well as other types of fitness activities. Its flexibility, core stability, whole body training and conscious breathing components when adapted to other activities, make those activities more fluid, effective, enjoyable and balanced. BODYFLOW™ can also work as a recovery program on days when you want to workout but you need a different type of activity than your usual one. The BODYFLOW™ program works to rejuvenate and re-balance your body after repetitive exercise.

How Often Should I Do BODYFLOW™?

While you’ll feel real benefits from coming to class just once a week most people try to come three times a week.

How Soon Will I Notice The Results?

It usually takes about three classes to really get to grips with the feel and structure of the class. You might also feel a little muscle soreness at first but this will quickly be replaced with a noticeable improvement in strength, flexibility and posture.

The great news is that from the very first class you should start to experience the stress-reducing and spiritually renewing benefits of the BODYFLOW™class.
